8th Session
"Its been a while since I've heard from you. I'm so glad you called, its nice to see you." The therapist said while giving the patient a hug.
"What have you been up to? Has something happened?" The therapist asked.
"Well, yes it kinda has. You know, with all the business of COVID and everything shutting down, not being able to go anywhere or do anything, my daughter turned 16, and now she's 17. I wanted her to get driver's license, or at least get some practice behind the wheel. My husband was always working, or when he came home he was always tired. I was always asking and pleading which turned into nagging, and she's gonna graduate soon and not know how to drive. One time I had a doctor appointment, and I needed the car so we would drive to his work together in the morning and I would go to my appointment and then pick him up later. So when my daughter came home, I decided I was going to sit next to her and help her drive. So we got in, I opened the garage for her to back out. I thought it would be good for her to learn about backing up first. But it was a mistake. She slammed on the gas, and I screamed and threw my hands up next to my head. And she plowed the neighbor's car into their garage across the street. I then put the shifter into park. And helped her shut off the car. The police were called but nobody was hurt and no tickets were issued. We went to pick up my husband at work and showed him what happened. He was upset a bit but I just told him that if he had gotten her some lessons or tried to teach her some more than what he had, I think he took her once, I wouldn't feel like I had to teach her.
"I told him the day it happened. And my father recently sent us this email, because my husband sent him a text saying that he couldn't pay the car insurance premiums and it was due soon. He has to pay all this extra money for us, and for her now, even though she isn't really a driver.
" And he wants the premium refund check that's coming and he wants it in a money order in his name sent back to him. Now, isn't this funny because he sent the money BACK that we gave for rent and that he didn't want it and we should put it in an account. And now he wants money? I just don't understand. I practically caused a scene in the store because my husband didn't want to send the rent $$ and I did. I FOUGHT to send that rent money, because I knew it was the right thing to do. And my father sent it back. And now he wants money. He has three houses, assets totaling in the millions and he wants more $$ from us, even though my husband says he can't afford for us to have another car. And I have to be at home watching for my daughter on her homework otherwise she won't do it. Otherwise, I would work. I really would. But he won't let me see the debit card statement. He says I don't need to. I want to keep the books financially, and just keep track as far as groceries and other things for the house but he won't let me see what we have."
" I know how it feels being married. Its hard sometimes."
