She Said 2022

 She Said is a film that came out just in time for Thanksgiving 2022.  It is based on a book of the same name that came out in 2019 written by two New York Times investigative journalists that investigated and exposed Harvey Weinstein's long history of sexual abuse and misconduct while he was head of Miramax and The Weinstein Company in Hollywood by investigating an article and publishing in October of 2017. The film has a special cameo of Ashley Judd playing as herself. Ashley was the first woman to bravely tell the female journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey exactly what Harvey did to her and the first woman to allow The New York Times to use her name for the article.

    Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan play the journalists. The journalists don't really know each other before the assignment. But both are married with young daughters of their own. The difficult part of their assignment was getting anybody to go on the record for them and backing up their stories with any kind of documentation. They talked to the very brazen Rose McGowan who neglected to cooperate due to past times of the paper not taking her allegations seriously. But also helped them out a little to tell the journalists that they were without a doubt being followed as well as having the phones being tapped. They also talked to Gwyneth Paltrow who wanted to go on the record but was scared of not being believed or thought to be looking for publicity. As in most sexual harassment cases, all it takes is one brave victim to come forward and say 'this happened to me', for the floodgates to open and the rest of the victims will come forward. In this case, it was Ashley Judd, who said it was the support of her family and believing in Christ Jesus that made her come forward. Harvey seemed to think it was Gwyneth Paltrow who did him in and went on the record, as he called The New York Times several times to find out who they had talked to. 

    In the end, 85 actresses, female assistants, secretaries, and others came forward to give testimony against Harvey Weinstein. He was found guilty and is currently serving a sentence of 23 years. He is also facing charges in Los Angeles and London.
